Say Hello to 'Fred', Google's Latest Update
We have been monitoring a lot of online conversations regarding a potential Google update targeting inbound links and link quality. Google is yet to officially confirm the update, however, Gary Illyes has unintentionally named it 'Fred' after his pet fish, along with any future updates that he does not wish to name.
Since Wednesday 8th March it has been reported that tracking tools are all showing significant fluctuations and many black-hat sites are experiencing a significant decline in rankings. From experience, it is very often the case that when the black-hat community notice an update, it is likely to be connected to back links.
Although we haven't verified this as an update first hand, as none of our clients have been affected, we are monitoring this update closely.
