Forward3D Announced as the First International Agency to Become a Certified Partner of Kakao
Forward3D, the global digital marketing agency, has become the first international (non Korean-based) agency to become a certified agency of Kakao Corp., which services both KakaoTalk, a leading smartphone messaging platform, and Daum, a major online portal in Korea.
This relationship will provide Forward3D with full access to Kakao’s API, allowing the agency to integrate its internal tools directly with the Kakao and Daum advertising system and to manage large-scale data sets and analyze campaign performance more efficiently. Forward3D will have a direct communication channel with Kakao’s official agency management team, who will be sharing early information and access to updates and new beta services and ad channels. This will result in a more efficient workflow and the ability to provide clients with more information and insights regarding the newest and most effective online marketing opportunities in the Korean market.
Having formalized the partnership, Forward3D’s EVP International, Hannes Ben said, “Forward3D is proud to be the first international performance marketing agency to have fully certified relationships with both major search platforms in Korea – Kakao (with Daum and Adam, the mobile search engine platform) and Naver – together covering over 95% of the search engine market. Mobile in particular has become an increasingly important channel for boosting brand awareness and traffic for our clients operating in the Korean market as the amount of time that people spend on mobile devices increases. This relationship will help us to develop our capabilities further in the mobile field.”
With its highly developed e-commerce landscape, high average level of disposable income and strong propensity to purchase from western brands directly (due to the number of counterfeit products sold locally), South Korea can offer high rewards for exportation. The main barrier for western brands expanding to Korea however has traditionally been the unique online landscape made up of domestic search portals, social and mobile platforms that can differ significantly in terms of the number and types of advertising formats from those in the West. With Kakao now offering a direct dialogue through this announcement to help ensure that advertisers succeed, one of Korea’s online giants is looking to break down the few remaining barriers to market entry for advertisers.
Forward3D runs multilingual search and display marketing across all global markets delivering worldwide language coverage through Locaria, the agency’s International division. Specializing in the retail and travel markets, the agency’s clients include British Airways, Hilton Hotels, Gucci, John Lewis, Debenhams, The Net-A-Porter Group and New Look. Headquartered in London with offices in New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul, Forward3D have grown to a 300 strong global team in 2015.
