Who will win the battle of the home assistants?

In an article for Marketing Tech our Head of Strategy, Tom Manning discusses the battle of home assistants now that Apple has finally released its entry into the market. Tom discusses Apples new Homepod, which has a hefty price tag of £349, significantly above the cost of its competitors, consumers are going to have high expectations.

Loyal Apple fans will almost certainly favour the HomePod. Through the HomeKit, Apple’s home automation platform, launched nearly three years ago which enables users to control smart home products within iOS apps. Apple has already partnered with Phillips, Honeywell and Elgato which will enable users to run their smart home through their HomePod, once launched. With regards to monetisation of the voice search offering, exactly how this will work is unclear.
