Two of Forward3D’s Senior Team Recognised as Top 100 BAME Leaders in Tech

Supriya Dev-Purkaystha, Director of Client and Strategic Partnerships, and Wajid Ali, Head of Paid Search feature in new report

Two senior figures at digital marketing agency Forward3D have today been announced as two of the top 100 most influential Black, Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) leaders in the UK tech sector. Forward3D’s Head of Paid Search, Wajid Ali, and Director of Client and Strategic Partnerships, Supriya Dev-Purkaystha have both been recognised.

The list, produced by board appointments firm Inclusive Boards, will be released today at the House of Commons as part of the official launch of the Inclusive Tech Alliance.

The Alliance has been set up in response to new research by Inclusive Boards that will show the sector is significantly lagging behind others on diversity within senior leadership. The founder of the Inclusive Tech Alliance (ITA), Samuel Kasumu, who is also a member of the Prime Minister's Race Disparity Advisory Board said:

“Technology is increasingly playing an important role in driving our economy and there is a great need to ensure that everyone can fully participate in the jobs and opportunities technology brings. Supriya, Wajid and others featured in this list today are role models that will inspire the next generation, and hopefully help to improve diversity within the sector.”

Dev-Purkaystha has been at Forward3D for over 7 years, beginning as a Sales Director, working her way through a myriad of new roles within the business, before moving back to head up Global Sales and Marketing as well as joining the Global Leadership Team. Prior to this, she held roles at Havas-owned Media Contacts and digital agency Artefact (previously Netbooster). Ali has over 11 years’ worth of digital marketing experience spanning multiple disciplines and joined Forward3D as a Senior Analyst in 2012. He has since risen to Global Head of Paid Search where he leads a team of over 120 that oversee the agency’s paid search and structured data services. Before joining Forward3D he was at LBi, prior to its merger with Digitas.

Supriya Dev-Purkaystha said: “It’s truly humbling to be recognised as one of the most influential BAME leaders in tech. Especially given the brilliant and inspiring people also on the list. Diversity remains a huge thorn in the side of many sectors in the UK, and ultimately costs businesses who often lack a breadth of opinion and experience. It’s on all of us to do more.

Wajid Ali added, “I’m thrilled to be involved with opening up leadership to a broader range of talent. The work Samuel and ITA are doing in this space is exciting, and we’re looking forward to working together to make a change”.

Those featured in the top 100 include senior leaders from Facebook, LinkedIn, IBM, Twitter and financial services firm EY. Judges include Tim Sawyer CBE (COO, Innovate UK), Sandra Kerr OBE (Race Equality Director, Business in the Community), and Catherine Muirden (Director of HR, Co-Op Foods).
